101 in 1001 update
So I got thinking today about this project and was feeling very far behind. Yup, I needed to do an update, and things are actually going quite well. I'm plussed about getting stuck into some of the rest of the jazz on the list ^_^
Health and Mind
1. Stop trying to be vegan and just be it. So far, my boyfriend and I have finally cut out pizza, and we still have the odd fud that we're not too sure about. I have started e-mail places to ask the ingredients, and have started a vegan food blog ommnomnom to record the journey
4. Write a list of 101 things that make me happy. 52 things listed so far. I've learned form the list that I am easily amused.
6. Take multivitamins, in particular iron, calcium and B12 as I’m deficient in each. I had been taking vitamins for January, but ran out and never went to the chemist. It's on a to do list.
17. Eat less soy products. I have a tofu addiction >.< I've been doing this as my recipe repertoire has grown. My current food addiction is enchiladas.
Creative
21. Repurchase my flickr pro account and use it once a month [3/33] Bought it and am using it to document my project 365 journey as well as take photos for my website.
22. Read at least one book for each month [1/33]. I've only read one book this year so far, there's some catching up to be done.
24. Carry a moleskin with me everywhere. I do and it has been so useful from workshops to lists to doodles.
25. Finally buy a new lens for my camera. Got two lenses, a sigma 100 - 200 and an awesome (compared to my old lense) Canon 28 - 135 with image stabilizer and USM.
27. Use my camera to take part in project 365 [81/365]
31. Sew some clothing that other people would like to wear Sewed my first dress, well, altered. Although I love it, I'm not sure that many other people would like to wear it, but I have plans for some new clothes now that I'm getting the hang of the sewing machine!
Knowledge
37. Learn to identify and appreciate wine. I've come to appreciate a good Riesling, but I don't know much about other types of wine yet. This is defiantly a work in progress.
39. Practice cupcake decoration. Done and am doing this, I love cupcakes ^_^
40. Learn to kiteboard. So far Nick and I have bought a kite and a bar and have been trying it out. I'm super unfit although, and have got some nasty bruises.
42. Be conscientious of my research question when developing new theories or creating experiments. I have taken to writing key notes from every day in a hardback notebook, I then organize my thoughts into lists and plans of action.
Work / College
48. Finish my research and graduate with a PhD. Well, I'm still there anyways ^_^
51. Build a professional portfolio and a well thought out five year plan. I'm in the middle of completing a series of professional development workshops for lecturers in college.
53. Lecture with passion. Do this by continuing to engage with my students, reading, and attending as many courses I can find. I've learned a lot from PBL and have changed my attitude towards the way that I teach this semester.
55. Recreate my website at least once a year [1/3] I created a new site, and am in the process of updating my personal one.
People
61. Develop and sustain a relationship that is on my own terms with my mother. Although I am in contact, I'm happy to be at a distance.
67. Go on a road trip to the Burning Man. Tickets are booked and I've started to save for flights!
68. Travel to see the Cirque Du Soliel. Tickets booked and I have my driving license so can drive to see the show
69. Regularly go home to Sligo to see friends, family and spend time exercising my horse. I've been up and down to Sligo visiting, but have yet to go out horse-riding
Good Will
77. Give up products produced by nasty corporations such as cocacola or those that test on animals. I still haven't given up coca cola, but I have found a website that sells vegan moisturizer.
78. Volunteer in some form, eventually I would like to join the life guards
82. If a friend is in hospital make sure to visit them. So far, I've visited two people
Personal Growth
88. Start a savings account. This has been done, and I've started saving for the Burning Man
90. Pass my driving test (It's tomorrow January the 2nd at 3pm *eepe*) Passed it in February, second time around ^_^
92. Learn a new recipe every month [3/33] (Vegan Enchiladas, Peanut-butter brownie cupcakes, Wakame salad)
94. Do 27 unselfish things and blog about it [1/27] I made 2 dozen green vegan cupcakes for a research group get together.
Misc
99. Own my own kiteboarding equipment. We have a kite and a bar so far ^_^
100. Give my dreads the love and attention they deserve and maintain them at least once every two months [2/16]. I've been giving the tonnes of attention recently because they are falling out! I'll save them :)
